About

I create art as a means of expressing myself, the way I see the world and how I interact with it. Art has often been a release for me, and I try to channel my emotions into all the pieces that I create. Art is so unique in its ability to express and share different thoughts of the world, and open up our minds to new perspectives we’d never previously considered. I’m an open book, so the emotions, topics, and ways I portray said topics in my art are all real and authentically me. I put myself out there as I am, because my art means nothing if it isn’t genuine to me. Plus, as I put my genuine self on display, I open the minds and the hearts of those who view my work to see a new perspective or even see someone else who has a similar perspective to them, and can feel less alone.
With the main goal of so many of my pieces being their emotional quality, the entirety of my art process is based on translating the feelings into a visual representation of what they are and how they feel. So as I plan my pieces, I craft my compositions and put together my color palettes to exude the emotions I want the audience to feel. I use color psychology, picking what colors give off which emotions and composition to direct the eye to my central focus. Then, in all my pieces where I am the main subject, I use body language and facial expressions
to more clearly show what I feel. I elevate these concepts even further by incorporating symbolism for what is happening and how the emotions feel. And finally as I start editing the photos I experiment with texture, lighting, color, and cropping until I am satisfied with how the piece looks and feels.
I’ve been influenced by countless artists and types of art over the years that have helped me to find out what I want my artwork to be and what I am best at. When I first got into art, I loved reading and making comic strips. The ability to combine dialogue, plot, and art like it is with this medium was always very attractive to me. I grew up drawing cartoons of over-the-top facial expressions and showing emotions and experiences in the characters I drew and stories I wrote. Then, as I got into high school, I started to use photography and editing to tell stories in a single image. And as I’ve continued creating, my style has transformed into combining photography, patterns, digital drawing, and collage to be my artistic expression. I am planning to double major in psychology and Emerging Technology in Business and Design at Miami University in Ohio.
